Each question requires an answer in either an audio or video response. If your smart device does not have and audio recording capability you can use the video camera function to also answer in audio as well as video. You may want to download a free voice recorder app to your smart device as this will be easier for your audio responses as well as reducing the file size of your audio response considerably. If you do not have the necessary items to complete your own practical assessment please contact Civil Safety and arrange your practical assessment at a Civil Safety High Risk Training Facility.

Required Items

When assessing a 'worksite simulation / scenario' you must have the minimum required PPE items available to you / on yourself when recording any visual media:
* Eye Protection (Safety Glasses).
* Hearing Protection (Ear Plugs).
* Hard Hat.
* Steel-cap Boots.
* High Visibility Retro Reflective Vest.

Requirements of the practical assessment (below) requires you to audio record your answers on your smart device, and may incorporate video records of your answer(s), for various scenarios / case studies, therefore you will also need someone to video you on your smart device.

To meet the practical evidence requirements of the G1 / S1 unit of competency, you must:

(a) Apply planning and organisation skills to the risk management processes.
(b) Identify or source criteria to determine unacceptable risk.
(c) Identify and recognise type and scope of hazards and their impact.
(d) Assess and determine the consequence, likelihood and level of potential risk.
(e) Identify unacceptable risk using the acceptable/unacceptable criteria.
(f) Assessing options for appropriate controls and implementing accordingly.
(g) Identify and obtain required resources.
(h) Prepare and maintain written records and report requirements.
(i) Review risk management documentation.
(j) Identify and recommend controls.
(k) Contribute to the implementation of controls.

The above requirements will be embedded within case studies / scenarios, responding orally (clear and concise communication) to questions (recording) and completing risk documentation.
